.Final painting

Rough and final rough.

This is a scene from The Road to El Dorado. It was an important and complicated scene and I wanted to get it right so I did a rough for the rough. It's painted in acrylic with some photoshop work in the final.

Hi Nathan, it's really great lighting color. If you don't mind, could you give me some advice about the method to practice painting "light"?

Nice one.

How long did it take from rough to finish?

The colors of this painting have great gem tones and pop out at you.

Thanks everyone.

Fumi, along with your outdoor studies, take a look at artists you feel are particularly successful at suggesting light in their paintings and paint studies from them. Painting light is an interpretation of what you see since your pigments cannot reproduce the full range of what you're eyes can perceive.

Hi Stephen, it was a long time ago but I probably spent a couple weeks on these.

Really like the texture quality of the foreground on the final rendering. Congratulations (and thanks for the tips!)

Hi Nathan! I'm Valerie's cousin-in-law. I've been watching your blog for the past year or two since I got married -- I married a BYU animation student, and everyone I would tell about my amazing wife would tell me about you!

Anyway, we're fans! I'll be working in Torrance over the summer, and Liz just had an interview with Dreamworks, so who knows, maybe we'll get to actually meet you!

Thanks Thomas and good to hear from you Benjamin. Hopefully the Dreamworks angle will work out. Good job on your "books for Peru" project by the way.
