Infomercials
Inc., the marketer of “Pillow Pets” and “Stompeez”, is developing a new line of
plush animals. We are seeking character
designers to create some concept designs for a “new type” of plush stuffed animal.
They
are called “Ugleez”. The theme
statement for Ugleez is as follows:
"They're so ugly, they're adorable!" In addition to
being ugly and adorable, they are also funny--or funny looking.
The
first reaction from a child who sees these plush animals for the first time,
should be a huge smile, accompanied by the desire to hug and squeeze the
animal.
Thus,
“ugly”, “adorable”, and “funny” are the operating descriptive words for these
plush animals. The design should be
detailed enough to meet the above criteria, but should also be simple enough to
be recreated as a plush stuffed animal.
These are the animals:
1.
Krazy Kitty
2.
Rabid Rabbit
3.
Psyco Bear
4.
Maniac Monkey
5.
Unusual Unicorn
6.
Pernicious Pig
7.
Porky Panda
The
designer should use his/her own creative vision to create just ONE colored
sketch, OR, computer rendering of each of these 7 animals. The designs need not be polished renderings but a strong drawing and wash of colors to best present the character will be appreciated. Several designers will be hired. Each designer will be compensated $2000. Payment is as follows: $500 up front, and $1500 upon submission of all
7 animal character designs. All
submissions will be made online—so any hand drawings will need to be scanned
before submitting.
The
following ideas are for example only.
The artist can use these, or come up with better ideas.
1.
Psyco Bear (Teddy bear-like with one big button eye and one little
button eye)
2.
Rabid Rabbit (lots of teeth with a big smile)
3.
Maniac Monkey (Mischievous eyes and smile)
4.
Krazy Kitty (big puffball with short squatty feet))
5.
Unusual Unicorn (one big horn—and little horns like a mohawk)
6.
Pernicious Pig (droopy eyes with huge bags and a dumb smile)
7.
Porky Panda (Very very fat )
